A crown, sometimes known as a cap, fits over a damaged tooth to restore its appearance. A crown covers the entire tooth above the gum line, preserving it from further damage and strengthening the tooth.
You may need a crown if your tooth has cracked, suffered severe decay or been weakened by fillings. Crowns can also be used to cover discoloured fillings or following root canal treatment to protect your tooth from further infection.
An onlay is a custom dental restoration that repairs a damaged tooth by covering part of it, usually one or more chewing cusps, while preserving more natural tooth structure.
In short, onlays are more conservative and partial; crowns provide full coverage and are used when a tooth is more heavily damaged.
A dental bridge is a false tooth, used as an alternative to a denture or implants when there are fewer teeth to replace or the missing teeth are on one side of the mouth.
The the replacement tooth is fitted between one or even two crowns which serve to anchor the bridge and keep it in place.

Just because you've lost a tooth or teeth, doesn't mean that you should lose your confidence. If you're missing teeth, a complete or partial denture can restore function as well as your appearance.
A well made denture will help you eat and speak better and will support the muscles of the face to prevent facial muscles sagging owing to missing teeth.
A complete denture can be used to replace all of the teeth in the upper or lower jaw. Partial dentures fill the gaps left by missing teeth and are attached to your natural teeth using metal or tooth coloured clasps. If you're looking for something other than dentures we also offer bridges and implants.
We construct normal acrylic dentures, valplast flexi dentures and specialist cobalt chrome dentures, please also ask us for the latest developments in Flexidentures.
